Sitting in a corner
Waiting, dreaming, hoping
Faithful, persistent, diligent
But I found them not in
Waiting, dreaming, hoping
Until I took that step of faith
Starting with the little known;
Ancient doors in shock, lifting
Wells springing, singing in deserts
And slowly but surely it dawned:
Dreams will tarry, hope bide
Until squatting faith rises, leaps;
Dreams adorn reality
When we arise and walk by faith
When we reach for the hope
That seems so out of reach:
Until we stretch, we may not reach.

I am a strong believer in and advocate for waiting; no hurry, if it is yours, it will come: just wait. There is nothing wrong with waiting and there is nothing right in lapsing into a lifestyle that settles rather than live expectant, in readiness to drop or take up whatever we have to and move when the cloud lifts. They said we are creatures of comfort, at ease with the familiar and afraid of the unknown. But when we walk with the Lord, our case should be different.

When we walk in step with our Guide, His glory lights up the dark that we may see and walk in His footsteps. And in His steps, we leave footprints behind; undeniable testimonies of faith in motion, faith stretching and reaching for that for which we were captured. It is safer to wait, it is easier to stand on a spot, and it feels better to just sit it out. Yet, faith that will not walk the Word for the season; faith that will not follow the Lead; faith that will not heed the Call; faith that will not bow to the Way; is but a dying faith. Living faith hears and hearkens for the nearer we draw to Him, the more alive we are in Him. The closer we walk with Him, the better our lives and light shines.

The times are really dark, one needs to be truly wary. Yet, should we tarry and miss the Guide? For want of maintaining status quo, some of us have missed the cloud that guides by day. At loss, we are clinging tighter to religion and professions that lure us farther, wallowing in gloom, left behind by the Fire that ousts darkness to light His present path, our now lane. Consequently we are struggling, we are wandering, and we are wondering: is there no light ahead, no end to this descent?

God is not sitting, God is not standing, not waiting, not hoping, and definitely not dreaming. God is in action and only faith in motion can catch up and keep up with Him. May our goal cease to be more religion, more professions, more positions, and more provisions because the more of these we gather, the more our cares and the less room we have to accommodate His presence. May our utmost desire become: to be found in the present of God’s tenses; where He is, doing what He wants, how He wants it done. I must confess that is dangerous adventure for on that path we are stretched beyond our norms, yet therein lies indescribable fulfillment as we lose our fears and find our hearts’ deepest longings realized. Be encouraged: God is our present Help – He’ll hear if we call, He’ll help if we ask with hearts that are willing to trust and obey.

Always in Him
