Everywhere I turn, I see various forms of hopelessness, in words spoken and written, on faces known and unknown, and I can imagine, each thinks to himself, “My case is the worst.” In the process of burden bearing, I forget my personal loads. I forget myself and sometimes, I tend to push Abba to shift times and seasons until He called me aside and opened my eyes to see: the atmosphere of the world we live in is hopeless and the effect is crippling when it pervades your space and penetrates your heart. It is no big deal to feel the hopelessness in the air but it becomes a problem when what is in the air gets into you and begins to drive your daily life.
There is no help for anyone out there. The world is in desperate need and has no help to offer anybody no matter your situation. The teachers are empty, healers are sick, helpers are groping, and leaders are confused. Nobody has answers and the more they seek, the farther solution seems to shift. Our help cannot be found in mountains high or valleys low. Our help is in the name of The Lord who made all that was, all that is, and all that ever will be. Our help comes from God. Without Him, we are done. Apart from Him, there is nothing left and what is the result? Hopelessness!
Hopelessness has no direction, and no destination so you can imagine the life it drives around – stagnation and frustration atop endless activities. That is not Abba’s will for His children but that becomes their lot when they keep their eyes on everything else but Him. Beloved, you may be living in a hopeless world but you are not hopeless. You have a responsibility to guard your heart and don’t let hopelessness sneak in and steal your peace.
I learned to take my rest in Him and trust that He is able to do what He says He will do. He is equally able to complete whatever it is He has started in the lives of His children. Once I got that picture, I quit harassing Abba. I quit torturing me and I learned to alert the innocent and help victims accordingly.
When we keep looking here and there, we do not find what we seek. When we listen to and suck in everything that appears on the news, we learn nothing new. Instead, the little we have is snatched from us. However, when we choose no longer to wander with our eyes and our legs, but instead, we learn to focus our attention and wait on the Lord, He refreshes our hope and renews our strength. Then He guides our feet in the right path and preserves us from the calamity that sweeps others away.
The world and its occupants may grow weary and wear out but when we wait on the Lord, we will emerge each day with new ideas and fresh strength, to pursue and to accomplish. This week, may you not be moved by what you see, hear, think or feel. Instead, may you learn to wait on the Lord; to trust His guidance, to rest in His care, and to find contentment in His provisions for you per time, amen.
Glory!
