Abba
One word that tells a trillion tales
Of You in Me, and I in You;
Tales of salvation and redemption
Of once abandoned and now adopted
Of a prodigal restored to prince-hood
Of a castaway that inherits the throne
Of a pauper handling unutterable riches
Of bliss that displaced shame and misery
Of peace that stole the show from quandary
Of life rising in fullness, from throes of death
Of free and extravagantly endless existence:
Abba, the substance and synopsis of life to me!

Abba,
The name adored in heaven and on earth;
Overflowing power, glory and splendor!
The name most enthralling and most sacred
The name so personal and precious to me;
My inheritance and choicest possession
Abba, the Source of my affection, Purifier
Of my intentions, and Focus of my attention
The Father who is both Friend and Lover
Abba, my hope, my light, my aspiration
The One who makes my heart dance
Harmoniously to chaotic tunes of life:
Abba, one word that means everything to me!

A sister and I were talking to Abba days back and she gently burst out in this native tongue, hailing the Father that teaches fathers how to father. I could imagine Abba’s face crease into awesome smiles as His soothing Presence quietly enveloped us. Later that day, as He delivered a message for His daughter, I marveled at what it takes to move the Mover of heaven and earth; no theatrical displays, no fancy styles, not even enough time to hallow Him as we would have loved to. Mere acknowledgement of who He is, expressed in simple words of worship, captured by native tongues of men, offered in purity of heart and sincerity of intent, Abba arises and claims His praise: Arise o God and take the praise that is Yours forever! Arise in our conditions and submissions, arise in our trust that refuses to waiver in the face of dilemmas, arise in our simple but consistent acts of worship in a world that tends to shut you out, arise Abba in Your sons and daughters who are loving You the only ways they know how, and take Your place that Your awesome glory may glow through these surrendered vessels of clays, amen!

Glory!
