Abba and I do these routine assessments; we take turns to evaluate our progress, or rather He scores me and allows me the honor to share my perceptions of His performance for the period under review. Below is the first part of that exchange, I hope it encourages you to keep pressing on no matter what.
Me: So what’s the result?
Abba: You have done well!
Me: Is that all you have to say for all these months and sacrifices, and everything?
Abba: What else do you want to hear?
Me: Details Abba!
Abba: You have done the best you can with what you have been given – I see that. I see your sacrifices, they are rare, invisible seeds whose rewards are sure, both here and hereafter. I see the struggles, so intense it seems prolonged but it is for a while and victory awaits at the other side. I see your obedience and readiness, they are my trophies of which I boast. I see the profits you bring in trading the gifts, treasures so dear, whose values transcend times. I see the desire to do more and the discipline of staying where you have been called, very much appreciated. I see also the expectations, huge in the areas you are convinced about and guarded in those places where you fear disappointment. I see your strengths where your confidence thrives and I see your weaknesses, and your willingness to trust me in those areas. I see how far you have come since our last assessment and I am impressed that despite all the discouragements and distractions that got in the way, you kept pushing and moving. I see the future stretching out evergreen prospects ahead of you as I fill each day with peace and I see your end is bliss. I see also things you could have done much better at if you had paid a little more attention, waited a little longer, pushed a little harder – you must not take for granted, these little things, they make huge differences. Nevertheless in all, I see your heart, so beautiful before My eyes and ever flexible like a child’s in My hands and I love you with an everlasting love.
Me: I am humbled that You see good even when You know that every good in Me comes from You. It is all Yours yet You give me the credit, I am grateful. I also know that I did fail you, in places A and B, did you forget those?
Abba: Did I forgive those?
Me: Yes Abba.
Abba: Then I recall them not.
Me: Thanks. But you know I still fall in those areas.
Abba: It is because you are human.
Me: So you understand?
Abba: Yes, I understand.
Me: Does that mean I won’t get penalized if I keep falling for those?
