They are coming, coming at me
They are coming from here and there
They are coming from everywhere
And here I was yesterday
Still here I am today
With nowhere else to go tomorrow
But like an army, they are coming
From here and there and everywhere
Coming at me, each fully armed
And here I am, and here I will go
For here I have been and here I go
And no one knew, no one knows
No one will ever know . . .
But His Voice breaks through the army
“Fear not, worry not: Your Father Knows
And Always He is, with you!”

We go through life the best we can and oftentimes, our best accomplishments pale in the face of our needs and expectations. But we swallow our disappointments. And we try to swallow the worries along but anxiety doesn’t let poignant cares go down easy. So we are stuck with worries in our throats, in a sore place, bugged with cares, and in the middle of it all our hearts wonder, “Does God even care?”

Does God care that things are not going as expected, haven’t for a very long while now, and for as long into the future as I can’t tell? Does God care that my family is not where they should be? Does God care that my health is not encouraging? Does God care that my job is such a saddening saddle I can’t wait to heave off my sagging shoulder? Does God even care about my dying dreams despite all I do to keep them alive? I can understand that others don’t but God? Isn’t He supposed to be the model of care?

There will always be questions abounding, rebounding from all that we have to deal with as we go from one day to the other. Some answers we will find tucked away in seemingly insignificant events, dropped via the care of loved ones or strangers, revealed in the smile of new dawn, in the frown of setting sun, in unexpected twists and turns and twirls of daily living. Some of these answers we will catch, find helpful or useless; some others we may miss. Yet there are answers no one and nothing else out there can intercept for us: it comes from above, it drops within and except our hearts are open to receive, we run the risk of missing them.

Whatever the situation we find ourselves in, solution starts with what we believe. Do we believe that we have a Father that truly cares, a Father who will not leave us alone? Yet whether we believe or not, He is there with us, always with us, no matter where, when, how, even though we don’t feel His presence. And long before the questions of life were formed, He compiled and saved the answers for us, by means we can easily reach even if we don’t or can’t feel His ever-abiding presence. Whatever the test or questions, Father is the answer. Whenever we feel lonely or crowded He is just a flip away. We may get some answers out there but the best answers are those we receive when we step away, when we turn to Him. And as often as we do, we bond with the Father that knows it all and cares through all.

As often as we reach for His Word, we find Him who is the answer no other can ever give us. Now is the time to build our lives around God: this is the year to build our hopes around His unfailing Word. And whenever, and as often as we reach, may we find our Father that knows before we ask, may we find God – our answers, may we find God in His Word; living and active, sharper than any double-edged sword, blazing through every circumstance that dares our faith in Him, leading steadfastly to the place of peace that beats the storms. Amen!

Blessings.
