He calls us as we are
But not so to remain
He calls us to Himself
Like Him, we may become
He calls us to light
His glory to reflect
He calls us to be true
To who we are in Him.
He saved us to live
Not for self or this age
He died that we may live
For Him who loved us so
Every day, through everything
God calls you and me
Not the same to be or walk
He calls us to a higher life
To a deeper walk with Him.

The deception of the times we live in is so subtly shocking, O how painful it is to watch saints taken off course for one reason or the other. It hurts so bad I feel for God: how His heart must break watching lives He loved so much He gave up His Son’s, turning their back on Him, toeing the path of destruction because they were bored, tired, disappointed that God did not live up to their expectations.

I don’t know how Christianity can be boring to anybody that is daily walking with God. For me, it is a handful! Every day with its challenges. Some of us have limited God’s calling to ordained ministers whose full time job is in the church but the truth is, God has called everyone of us. The path may be different but the calling is the same.

I remember days I was yearning to go full time into His service because I wanted to spend all my life on Him. Yet, He restrained me as He trained me to learn that serving God is not limited to position; status, geographical or otherwise. It is the lot of every child of God to serve in our Father’s House. And He, not us, chooses where we serve.

Our limited knowledge sometimes convinces or rather, confuses us that serving God is better there than it is where we are and that births the itch to switch. Thus many have called themselves into things and places that Abba has not called them to. Sometimes we struggle in the things we have chosen above God’s calling. And sometime some of us appear to be prospering in it but what loss it will be on that day when we stand before Him and He says, “No dear, I didn’t call you to that. You went your way, you did your will, welcome home all the same.” God forbid!

My utmost desire is to stand before Him on that day and hear Him whom my heart eternally beats for say to me, “Welcome home My Glory, My faithful servant.” That is the reason I do what I do irrespective of present day results and rewards or seeming lack of it. We miss it when we want our reward here. This place is not home! Paul captured it so perfectly: if all our sufferings were for what we get and spend here, then Christ died in vain and of all men, we are the most miserable!

Beloved, God is our eternal reward, our greatest gain in this life: every other is secondary. He is worth every pain or delay or disappointment we may have to bear. He is deserving of every tear shed walking that narrow way with our cross. And at the end of the day, if we have served faithfully in our call, we are certain of His reward which nothing in this life can ever compare to.

If God has called you where you are, don’t switch because it seems like it is not working. Don’t move because of those who seem to be doing better over there. God rewards faithfulness not results. And there is no greater Rewarder than our Abba. Keep serving, stay faithful: with God, our reward is sure. I’ll quote Paul again: the suffering and disappointments of this life is nothing compared to the eternal weight of Glory that will be revealed in us when we stand face to face with Him for whom we deemed the fancies of this life as nothing. Be encouraged.

Glory!
