Many years have come and gone
Some came with overflowing blessings
The sweeping arms of some left me empty
And some it seems, left no change
Yet I learned, it is not how it comes and goes
But how I face it, from one day to the other
What I do with what each day serves
And how I let each one leave me.
As I enter the garden of this New Year
I choose to plant faith in my heart
Hope in my eyes, grace in my tongue
And patience in my ears. I choose to nurture
My dream; watering, weeding, waiting
And watching as it grows into reality.
In everything that comes and goes
In every way that avails, I choose
As a great husbandman, to sow my seeds
Tend my plants, never lose the hope in my eyes
Never miss the song of my heart, as I trust
As I wait and watch for ever abounding harvest.

Food for Thought: Faith tells us that the invisible is possible. It paints the picture of our dreams with brushes that our minds can interpret and appreciate. Then comes hope, assuring us that not only is that dream possible, but also that it is reachable. Hope picks that dream in the realm of impossible and brings it so close we can feel it long before it manifests. It is that hope which propels us to get up and go out, to do what we ought for what our hearts have been assured, not only of its possibility, but also of its availability and proximity to our reaching hands. When a farmer plants, though it still appears far from his reality, he labors in hope – he has the assurance of harvest. Faith inspires us to dream and hope propels us to do what we have to, for its achievement. May the hope of bountiful harvest encourage us as we go sowing, knowing that surely, we will return, bearing fruits that endure.

Scripture: He who continually goes forth weeping, bearing seed for sowing, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him. Psalm 126: 6.

Prayer: Dear Lord, let me not keep my eyes on the weather for those who do may miss the planting season: guide my heart through seasons of life, grant me the wisdom to sow cheerfully knowing that I will reap bountifully, amen.
