He was juggling tons of balls at the same time!
Incomprehensible amazement was our response.
Cheers followed him; admirers, then followers:
He turned the center of attraction, reference point
Scale with which the rest were weighed; indisputable
Indispensable, for so long. In a twinkle Of an eye
It happened; something that shouldn’t
Something that could be counted for nothing
Something many failed to ascribe significance
Something that shouldn’t matter but did
And in that twinkle of an eye unworthy of note
There was a mix that caused a miss: all the balls
Came tumbling down, all the juggling couldn’t
Catch or keep one ball in his hand. Grounds
Have rules, men have limits but he knew no
Rules or limits, ran regardless of both
And fall was waiting with rude awakening.
Learn to probe, to prove before you plunge.
Be kind, passionate, channel quests and zests
Aright lest pursuit of dreams yet to be claimed
Ruin the preciousness of what’s at hand.
Food for Thought: For want of something to do, seeking attention, admiration, respect, whatever we choose to call it, we have done the unbelievable. The fact that we got away with it rather than prevent, further injects our courage with hope that we will make it again and again. That is how many of us have bitten off much more than we can chew. The amazing thing about it is that others who assumed less are the ones struggling and choking while we are juggling successfully to the cheers of observers. From day to day, we shift farther from the place of our calling, deeper into treacherous territories but we fear not; we have done it before and it worked. We are assured it will work again tomorrow, and it will continue to work for as long as we keep juggling. Thus amateurs have instantly turned professionals, from professionals to magicians, and the world is cheering still; cheering louder as we derail farther. They celebrate outcomes and don’t care how we got the results. Fueled by the applauds and compliments, glamorous returns on our juggling, we close our eyes, let down our guards and juggle on, after all we’ve been doing this for so long it has become norm. It is no longer about right or wrong, no respect for timing and borders: “I got this! I can do this!” Inflated, we turn world jugglers who don’t have to think to juggle because our systems have adapted to just juggle on. Then that ‘twinkle of an eye’ moment comes and one insignificant miss rubbishes experiences and accomplishments of many years. That little miss leads compliant balls into slight deviation that has all the balls thundering down, along with the jaw of the juggler. Even in the face of success, we must understand that life is in stages and each stage has its rules and limits. Each stage has its times which if not respected is bound to defy experience and backfire with detrimental consequences.
Scripture: When a man’s ways please the Lord, He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him. Proverbs 16: 7.
Prayer: Dear Lord, I want to be the best of me, for You and for everyone: nevertheless, let me never forget that pleasing You is my priority, amen.
