Fall can be a mean master, caring companion
Or a valuable servant working for us. Cruising
Heights, fall lets you come down, calm down
Step back, drop out, lie low, look farther, deeper;
Crucial switches for critical turns and changes
In speed and routes; a hit here, a touch there
Changing outcomes that could’ve been missed.
Fall lets us down so we can pick out diminutive
Baits that maim giants, killer traps concealed
From high fliers who feel invisible, untouchable
Whose fall is fatal when it strikes. Fall lends
Its back to let us out and let us land.
Not every fall is for harm, some are scored
For good, timed for safety and survival.
Food For Thought: The way we see things depends on where we stand at the time of viewing. Our position influences our perspectives of life and events. Sometimes we see well, some others the very things we should focus on escape our view. The constantly revolving planet we live in demands that we must take firm stand and yet be flexible in our position so as to see truth which does not change irrespective of how everything else around it changes. Change is one of those things that don’t come very easy to some of us. We feel safer and more comfortable with the ways we are used to. We resist change. We fight change until we don’t have a choice. It may be uncomfortable, stirring uncertainties and fear of the unknown, yet some of the breakthroughs we have experienced may never have been possible without the force of change. There are many things that compel us to change and fall can be one of them. Not only does it withdraw us from the spot light, it moves us into hidden locations where we can surrender our old skin, protected in our most vulnerable times, until we have grown the new skin we need to face and overcome the dynamic world we live in. When we won’t, fall lets us get out so we can learn afresh and be renewed. If you are in a fallen position right now, embrace it with humility and patience: it won’t last forever and your ability to learn well and fast will determine your release. If you have never fallen, be prepared: it is the lot of mankind.
Scripture: You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You. Isaiah 26: 3.
Prayer: Dear Lord, You are My Helper, and however Your help comes, make me wise to be receptive and appreciative, amen.
