Some are waiting to arrive before wearing
Thankfulness, but gratitude is an attitude
Not birthed at heights or crippled in depths.
It is the seat a heart takes, be it day or night,
Hot or cold, good or bad; a state of mind,
A way of life, may be acted but only a while,
Nurtured, sustainable a lifetime. As like attracts
A thankful heart appreciates the possessor.
Let not events decide the state of your heart
Choose while you can, to be thankful no
Matter what; whether you stand or fall, climb
High or crawl low: gratitude like salve, clears
Eyes to see escape routes that God reserves
For the liberation and promotion of the thankful.

Food For Thought: Some of us feel we have a right to ingratitude. We deem life has not been fair to us, so what’s there to be grateful for? “Give thanks? For what?” You may be wondering but unknown to us, our inability to count the little blessings of everyday robs us the privilege of witnessing greater ones. Because we want more and better, we fail to realize that these little blessings are what others may be seeking and praying for. In all sincerity, there are times you find yourself in places where it appears there is hardly anything to be thankful for; maybe overwhelmed by past regrets or present pressures threatening future happiness. Yet, even in such places, nothing appreciates when ignored or despised. That is the place to pray for eyes that see the little valves God has lined our current location with. They may not bring the mighty relief we desire but appreciating the brief breaks they provide as we await the mega release keeps us prepped up for escape when that door swings opens. Nobody was born grateful and thankful. Thankfulness is something we learn and gratitude a choice we have to make in spite of all.

Scripture: In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. 1 Thessalonians 5: 18.

Prayer: Dear Lord, whatever my condition, in every situation, may my heart never fail to arise and bless the Giver, the Keeper, the Helper, and Restorer of my life, amen.
