When you fall, bear it as a change not an end.
They that dread to fall fear they’ll never rise again
Lacking faith in second chances, their energies
Are funneled into struggles; battling to stand
They miss the joy of living; plateful of scuffles
Garnished with hassles; fighting not to fall
They fight – not to win and not winning, they lose.
Fighting because to them fall is a jailor, failure
To them, to fall is to fail: captivity without hope.
The wise see in fall, a gracious benefactor:
They don’t court it, they don’t fear it: they live
Standing or fallen. They live no matter where
Energy spent living, not struggling, not fearing
And whenever times change, for good or ill
They face it by faith, take it with courage, squeezing
All they can off of what and where they are
Readied to move, equipped to sustain. Only the free
Can live thus, only the free can truly live.
Food For Thought: Life calls every day but right alongside it, fear wails to whoever cares to listen. Life is calling us to believe and live; to get up and get out; to know that we have what is required to take that step and make that move; to trust that God will deliver on His promises though we see them not yet. On the other side, fear is daring and threatening, “Take that step and you are dead! So you think you can, huh? Try it and you won’t miss the ground; just try and you are history.” Every day, these voices are singing to all of humanity. Your response depends on who you have on the inside, and in spite of that, the voice you prefer to tune into. Those who listen to fear are crippled the majority of times; they fear to live, they fear to die, they fear the good, and they fear the bad – nothing works it for them. As for those who choose to daily tune into the station of life, they are encouraged to have faith in God who is above all else, to believe that life is for living not for fearing: that every day is for us to get up and get out and live the best we can. We eventually will win with God on our side if we believe that we can and give it all we have. Today, which station will you tune into, life or fear? You choose.
Scripture: The Lord upholds all who fall, and raises up all who are bowed down. Psalm 145: 14.
Prayer: Dear Lord, guide me on how best to spend my life, living not fearful and struggling, to trample my fears and thrive in Your grace, amen.
