Eyes are the torch of every living soul
Luring into darkness and gloom or flooding
With light and joy, beauty and hope. Blessed
Are eyes that see beyond here and now!
Some falter because their sight is short
Others stumble in darkness, their sight is not.
Blindness robs appreciation of wonders
Eyes that see are gifts to the possessor
Give us eyes that see O God! Heal failing sights;
Those that focus naught, farther or closer
Than reality, those that don’t see what they should
Those that don’t see clear enough, and those that
Can’t tell what they see. Give aid to weak eyes
That they may see what they ought
For what we say fathers what see
And how far we go is brother to how much
We can truly see, what lies ahead.
Food For Thought: The power of sight is indisputable. Men have gone to the moon and beyond and back because someone saw a vision, way beyond his fence, neighborhood, classroom walls, office cubicles, and executive lounges. We can only go as far as our eyes can see. If all you see is what is ailing you today, you may never be able to do what will take you far from there. Men have gone farther than expected because some used the available to challenge the visible. Blindness is not really about our two eyes because with them many have perished and without them, others have flourished. It is amazing how different people can look at the same things and see varying images. Your position is often dictated by what you see and what you see is predicated on how you look. Inability to see beyond where we are and what we are going through keeps us from where we can get to: if only we would look a little farther! Contentment has its gains but when married with curiosity, it compels us beyond where we are and propels us to dreamed destinations.
Scripture: The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints. Ephesians 1: 18.
Prayer: Dear Lord, open my eyes to see, the wonders of your love, that I may know beyond any shadow of doubt, the God that I serve, amen.
