Life would be an endless quest
Seeking and searching for Him
Whom we can’t find on our own
Spending and striving for more
Of what we yearn but can’t place;
Hunting odd places, combing wrong ways
Driven farther from truth, spent and not
Far from where we began, but for God . . . .
Man’s best attempts at God is failure
Man’s best in His hands is nothing;
A lifetime of fruitless quests and angst
Frustrated pursuits and disappointments
Bitter beginning, wasted ending, but for God . . . .
But for God who took the first step
To find the lost and restore to rest
But for God who showed the right way
And chose to lead the willing, all the way
Humanity would be hopeless, life a misery
Eternity a mystery, but thank God for God
Who Stepped down, stepped in to step us up
To make every moment count for good
No matter the twists and turns
To make the end count for good, for God.
Food for Thought: God made humanity a very unique and brilliant race. We are amazing and our accomplishments affirm it. Many things once considered impossible have bowed to our drive for advancement. From the beginning until date, man has not given up his quest for God, including those who deny His existence. No, it didn’t end with the dispersion at the Tower of Babel. In our various ways, on a continual basis, man continues to seek, to explore, to actualize connection with Someone, something, way beyond him and here and now. With all of our intelligence and innovations, the results would not be far from the product at Babel. Man’s best attempts at God will always end in failure because we don’t know what we don’t know. Except it is revealed. God took the first step, to reveal Himself to man; to show us the way to Him and left us with the choice, to come His way and find who we seek, or go our way and get lost. If you haven’t found God, it’s not because He is hidden or because you haven’t done enough. Man’s best in God’s hand is nothing worthy. Except the grace of God on it, except the breath of God upon it, our search for God ends in frustration. All of heaven and all of nature bear the fingerprints of His wonders and declare the availability of salvation, so free yet not cheap to whoever hearkens and follows. God is here, God is now, right there with you if only you will believe.

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank You for not waiting for me to find You which would never have happened: thank You for making the move that brought about my salvation, and thank You for sustaining and perfecting that work of grace in me until the end, amen.
