Gods of this age sit.
From their lofty domains
They look down on subjects
Demanding, commanding
Condemning without mercy
Any that dares and errs
But for His own, God stood
Not demanding but giving
Not condemning but saving
God came to you and me
When we couldn’t find our way
To Him, not to judge or condemn:
He came to give, He came to save
What manner of God is this?
Food for Thought: When gods demanded sacrifice from us, God became the sacrifice for us. What kind of God could allow His creation such prerogatives? And what manner of love compels such? What manner of love is this that we have found in His sight?
Scripture: And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. Philippians 2: 8.
Prayer: Dear Lord, I may never live up to the shining example You set through Your sacrifice on the cross: help me to be faithful whenever the need arises to lay myself or my possession down for another, amen.
