How hard it is to walk with God
When we can’t see His way
How impossible to be like God
Without intimacy with His Word
Subscription to His prescription
Only cures fear and feeds faith.
Only those who wear His lenses
Can look and see what He sees
Think like Him, say what He says
For such hearts are tuned and set
On the frequency where God operates:
Only on the platform of faith
Can mortals please the Almighty.

Food For Thought: We all want to please God, to be His friend, to be like Him. Yet every day, our quest for God is flogged and swayed by news whose purpose is to take us farther from the God we serve and the life we seek. Abraham’s faith stands tall, a shining example that we must keep at hand if we truly want to please God. It started out while he was still young and nothing seemed to come out of it as youth passed him by. His body and that of Sarah confirmed science as it aged, yet Abraham chose to believe in God’s Word. Eleazar turned out a great servant, well equipped to take over and run the household but Abraham continued in his faith that God will provide the promised heir. Ishmael came from his loins still the old man won’t give up his hope in what God had said. Have you ever been in that place of, “God please, no more promises. I have been hearing this forever and nothing seems to come out of it. Just do what You will do when You decide to but please, make me no more promises about this. Quit raising my hopes only to have it dashed. Quit keeping me on the lane of expectation when nothing is happening. Don’t be offended but kindly give me a break on this please.” I have. Sarah got there too and was there so long that on one occasion, she had a good laugh at this persistent promise that won’t come to pass and won’t go away. Yet against hope, Abraham hoped until it came to pass. Whatever God has said will surely come to pass. Whether you will be there to experience it or not is dependent on how persistent your faith remains.

Scripture: But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. Hebrew 11: 6.

Prayer: Dear Lord, grant me grace to bear my challenges, sensitivity to sympathize with others, and the decorum to walk away from trouble, amen.
