Unforgettable words of a Father
Whose heart overflows with love
So tender and so overwhelming:
“Learn to look into My eyes
See what I see while I’m at work in you
So you know what I seek to achieve
Only then can you be still though all roars
Only then can you surrender to My ways.
I can go ahead and have My way –
Sovereign as I am – that is not My way
The journey is fun when you see what I see
When you take My hand and come along;
Willingly, joyfully, though through tears.”
Then rose my squeaky voice, “From today
Abba, into Your eyes I’ll forever look
And my yes is Yours, my yes for life
To Your every command,” I promised
And He bestows on me that eternal smile
That says, “I’ve heard that before
I know better, yet I will never stop loving
I will never give up on you My beloved
Fear not, I will never leave you alone.”
Food For Thought: What a reassurance to know that we are not orphans who have no hope or choice, upon whom life flings whatever it may, and who must swallow whatever they are served. We have a Father. Not one who has to be informed of our latest acts but one who truly knows us, because He made us. The greatest of all Fathers. This Father truly cares and deeply loves us in ways human minds can never grasp. Most of all, His love is not based on how good we look and how great we live. His love is not because of what we do or don’t. It is a choice He made long before our birth: to love us for better for worse, through great and tough, to be with us from the beginning to the end, to never leave nor forsake us. We can relate to being loved for our possessions and performances but Abba’s love is beyond comprehension, impossible to fathom, and the most tangible reality that exists in our self-consuming world. If only we can take His position, see things the way He does, respond how He would have us: be His delight day and night. If only we could please Him in all we do, yet He knows us best; better than any other: God knows us and yet, loves us no less.
Scripture: Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the Lord your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you. Deuteronomy 31: 6.
Prayer: Dear Lord, may I never take undue advantage of Your love and promises: may I never take undue advantage of the privileges of grace and of Your presence in my life, amen.
