The Almighty sent a ladder
All the way from heaven;
God seeking connection with man
Creator chasing intimacy with creation.
One man per time, right through
Every man: one Soul for every soul
One death that saved the rest
One life that speaks for all.
From one to another the chain
Of grace links souls redeemed:
Grace given, not as excuse
Grace given, not for hoarding
For justification and sharing
Freely, as generous as we receive:
God wants you and me to link up
Others on this chain of grace.

Food For Thought: I have learned that nobody believes in leadership by example like God. He sets out to do right because it is His nature. Not only that, He knows that as we observe Him do right in a world that goes all the way wrong, we learn to live right no matter what. He doesn’t sit up there in heaven, shooting orders for us to follow, as if to a herd of goats. Like the true Shepherd He is, He leads the way and in love commands not only our respect but also our obedience. To love Him is to obey Him and in obeying Him, His love invested in us does not end with us. We learn to reach out as He would, to touch others as we have been touched by Him. As we learn to be and to live like Him, the chain of grace spreads from us to others, the bond of love binds us closer and tighter. Until the world can look at us and exclaim, “Like Father like sons, so help us O God. Amen!”

Prayer: Dear Lord, may I stretch out of my comfort, reach out, and touch someone else with the grace that has enriched me, amen.
