Many of what we label service to God
Are ambitions, cloaked in religion;
Subtly serving our egos and ethos.
God is used, a cover for aspirations
Spirituality a mask for selfishness
Illusory insurance for flagrant greed
That parades pride in rituals of faith
A slippery slope, an abysmal snare.
Deliver us O God from foxy traders
Using God to serve their appetites
Deliver us from craftiness of religion
And from the wiles of an enemy
Who makes mountains of nothing
And nothing of giants. Amen.

Food For Thought: These are desperate times when people will tend to use whatever they can to get whatever they seek. We live in times when the fear of God appears so low that people are not afraid to use God for their own goals. But for the mercies of God! We need the mercies of God to not fall into this deadly trap of the enemy. We need the mercies of God to escape from getting soiled and sullied by abomination being paraded as norm. Times and things change but God does not. His word does not. We can evolve all we want and that is allowed because we are not perfect. We learn, we change; we acquire, we adjust. It’s all okay because our  capacity is designed to accommodate that. However with God, change is not possible. God is perfect, so also is His Word, His will, and His way. He does not need improvement. We need God’s mercies to know the truth, embrace it, and live it irrespective of consequences. We need God’s mercies to escape the wiles of those who have become snares in their courses of evolution. May God deliver us.

Prayer: Dear Lord, please hide me from evil and deliver me from the traps of the enemy and his agents, amen.
