His Word, the scale on which I weigh
My wants and dreams and goals for life
His word, the tape with which I measure
My might and flaws, my size and limits
His word, the blade with which I cut
My dreams to shape, make each fit
For God’s plan and purpose per time
His Word, the needle and thread
With which I tailor my life to align
With the ultimate pattern of the Father.
Food For Thought: I don’t think Christian living would be possible without the Word of God. God’s Word is the light that opens our eyes to things that have always been there that we didn’t see, which needed to be changed. God’s Word is the salt that adds taste to our bland lives and preserves us from reeking corruption that is everywhere we turn. God’s Word is the rod that lands when we least expect, in our ways, thinking or boasting we are going God’s way. God’s Word is the staff that nudges and guides where we should walk, how we should work. It is in God’s Word that we learn about God, about who we are and about who we ought to be. In following God’s Word, we are transformed from what we used to be to who we were made to be. In my personal experience, God’s Word has fallen on me, breaking me to pieces. The same Word has been the needle with which my fallen and broken pieces were sewn together and made whole without the sign of a scar. God’s Word has been God to me. God’s Word should be everything to us. We learn God, know God, and live God by His Word. It is so hard to understand how one can live from day to day without a word from God and still expect to thrive as a child of God. What is your personal experience with God’s Word?
Scripture: How sweet are Your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth! Psalm 111: 103.
Prayer: Dear Lord, increase my hunger for Your Word, my passion for Your ways, amen.
