He tagged me “Work in Progress”
Set me on a table in His workshop
I tried relaxing, nurturing great expectations
Didn’t know I was dealing with a butcher
I was told He is the Merciful and Gracious:
I see no mercy in these tools, no grace in pains.
Up I sat as worry apprehended alarm
“I Am,” He simply said as He laid me back down
“Trust Me,” He stretched me out, my poise water
But fear was freaking my insides out, “What next?”
It lambasted, “Don’t lie still and let Him cut you up,”
That was what I did, in trust, by choice: I lay back
But it took His arms of steel to keep me still.
Food For Thought: How many times have we said, “If only I had an idea of what God is doing in my life, I would do whatever is required of me?” We get an idea and we wish we knew a little more. You would think a little picture will do but you get that and wish you had the whole picture. Truth of the matter is that we cannot trust God based on what we know or don’t know. We can only trust God by faith irrespective of what we know and what we don’t. God’s Word is there for us, enough for us to make that choice: to trust or not. His works down the years affirm His faithfulness to those who trust in Him. More than enough proofs abound that encourage us to rest our cares on Him. We miss it when we use our experiences to measure God because they are too limited and flawed to prove or disprove Him. To trust God or not is a choice we have to make and proof will always abound in support of whatever we choose.
Scripture: Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth! Psalm 46: 10.
Prayer: Dear Lord, when familiar circumstances instigate my fear in the uncertainties of Your sure Ways, may grace guide me to rest my trust in You, amen.
