I came to that place where I knew
For sure: except God, I am done;
Except He fights for me, I am defeated.
Except He heals, these wounds are my end.
Except He saves, I am lost. Like a seed
Buried, alone in the ground, I laid back
Where He left me, let go of all my anger
Disappointments, desperation; I laid down
All my regrets and expectations, turned inward
Seeking that place within where before this began
I could run to and find Him, that place in Him
Where I knew I could run into and hide:
I turned away from all the voices without
I tuned out all the doubts and fears within
Turned to Him who alone can help and save
Though I see Him nowhere near at all.

Food For Thought: In those times and places where it is obvious that we are done for except God, that is the place where we need to hang in but unfortunately that is the time many give up. Human strength is so limited it can only carry us so far but God’s Word, laid up within, becomes fuel that fires us when everything in us and of us has failed. God’s Word within becomes the charger that keeps us alive when all around is dying. God’s Word within becomes the energy divine that defies our weaknesses and doubts and fears. God’s Word within becomes the buoy that keeps us floating in the storm that is sweeping away those around. God’s Word within becomes the connection that keeps us rooted and standing when there is nothing else to hold onto or stand up for. God’s Word within becomes the glimmer that sparks hope and keeps it burning until help arrives. The power in God’s Word is manifested the most in our worst moments; guarding, guiding, helping us sail through what sinks others, and to emerge unscathed by the very events that wrought the destruction of many. I encourage you to build your life around God’s Word: dig in everyday and lay it up in your heart because you never know when the storm will strike, you don’t know how bad and how far, just like you don’t know right now, how mighty God’s Word is able to deliver those whose life depend on it until you experience it.

Prayer: Dear Lord, when my senses fail to pick the signals of You, in the midst of tough battles, let my faith remain alert, until in You I find the peace You give to those who trust in You, amen.
