I am human; made to think
Made to feel, to know and understand.
I am human; made for one purpose
With roles that vary with my days.
I am human; made like God
Whom I can only access by faith.
I am human who must learn
The place and limits of instincts
The due place of faith
Without which I miss God
Without which I miss purpose
Despite the countless roles I play.
Food For Thought: It is so much easier for us to believe our feelings than God, to trust our guts than His Word, to follow our thoughts than His ways, because the former are right there with us. Does that imply that God is not right there with us as He promised? Well, it is easier to believe what our sensory organs confirm than those they don’t. Our sense organs are developed by use and their improvement over time can be tremendous. Unfortunately, our senses can only confirm the natural. The spiritual is beyond it. No matter how developed our senses are, they are not designed to discern the spiritual so when we tend to build faith in the eternal using the natural, disappointment is the end result. Faith is not a feeling, it is a knowing that comes by choice and effort, channeled in the appropriate direction. Faith is not dependent on what we feel, it is a function of the Word of God. We grow our faith in God through His Word and by exercising it as we trust and walk with Him. You can’t wait until you feel it to believe it. With faith, the reverse is the case: you believe it until you can handle it. Faith hooks the invisible and draws it into the realm of the visible. With God, seeing doesn’t precede believing. Those who wait until they see to believe are often deceived by what they see because the visible often contradicts the invisible. But those who must walk with God start out believing, walking in line with what they have believed until that which was once an invisible promise becomes tangible reality. If God has said it, and you want to experience it, then you better believe it.
Scripture: Now I know that the Lord saves His anointed; He will answer him from His holy heaven with the saving strength of His right hand. Psalm 20:6.
Prayer: Dear Lord, when my senses tell lies about You, Your Word, and Your Presence, help me to be still and in quietness, to find the assurance of the never failing peace of Your presence, amen.
