He lifted and set me before a mirror
Flabbergasted, I paused, “Who is this?”
I asked in wondrous amazement
“You, My beloved,” He responded through
That same smile that never changes
Through His changing processes
And through my ever changing responses.
Staring right back at me was this awesome sight
Radiating peaceful beauty and awesome glory
I saw the Tailor in the mirror, I looked every bit
Like Him and suddenly it dawned on me:
He makes all things beautiful, makes all things new.
All the while I wandered, all the while I wondered
He was making me just like Him.
Food For Thought: Whereas a lot of people think that they are here to make all the money and have all the fun they can, the real reason we are here is to discover, to live, enjoy, and fulfill God’s purpose for us on earth. And what is that purpose? To be like God. We were designed to be like God from the beginning. We were created to live the greatness and the goodness of God. When corruption entered, we fell. Since then, it has been a struggle to get up and get back. In that struggle, we are distracted by too many pursuits that appear commendable until the end draws near and they turn appalling when weighed against true purpose. All the labors, all the studying and praying, all the fellowships and activities we engage in are supposed to help us become more like God. If that is not what they are accomplishing, then they are failing and we are bound to fail. If you think the purpose for your life is to make money, be the best at your profession, live wealthy and healthy, enjoy! Just be sure that the means has not become your goal for the end of all of those is actually that we should be and live like God. If we know that our purpose is to be like God and every other are avenues to bring it to pass, then we must learn to weigh our engagements against that purpose: will this make me more like God?
Scripture: Then He who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” And He said to me, “Write, for these words are true and faithful.” Revelations 21:5.
Prayer: Dear Lord, You are the Maker and Giver of every good gift: overlook my doubts and make me beautiful, just as You are, amen.
