Whenever I called, He answered
No matter where, He answered
Whenever, however, He answered;
Always there, always on time
So I geared up and set off
To show a world that shuns God
A thing or two about the Almighty
Who loves and honors His servants.
I worked so hard, set it all up, called
Like I always have: no answer
I asked as usual: no answer
I prayed as I used to: no answer
I did all I knew how to: no answer
What do you do when you have done
All you know and all God returns
Is slices of overwhelming silence
Buttered with disappointments?
Food For Thought: As a result of funny impressions some of us acquired or developed about God, we get offended when the acclaimed faithful God fails to respond to our summons. The more justified our claims appear to us, the higher the disappointment we record against Him. “Why won’t God give it to me? He owns the whole world after all, this will cost Him nothing. Doesn’t He want me to be happy? Isn’t He the good God who answers the prayers of His people? So why is He not answering mine?” Like kids, we throw tantrums anytime it seems God is not jumping up and down, running back and forth to meet our expectations. Nurturing anger against God is a very dangerous route to ply, it yields no good to those who undertake such. Yes God answers prayers but are you aware that such prayers have to be aligned with His will for you; that in His plan, He probably has something better than what you’re asking for; that there is a perfect timing to His provisions? Do you know that God’s Word is so highly exulted that He will not go against it? Do you know that as a parent, God reserves the right to do as He pleases, answer prayers or not, and none of us can hold that against Him?
Scripture: You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures. James 4: 3.
Prayer: Dear Lord, help me to understand that prayer is not time to file a list of my wants, but a time to seek You that I may know You so I can serve You better, amen.
