I am not Cain who served leftovers to
The Almighty, reserving his best for self.
I am not Ananias who served a part as
Though it were all, saving the rest for self.
All we have is ours to choose to give or keep
To serve or not. God rejoices over gifts served
In baskets of truth and sincerity. God accepts
Whatever we can offer without complain
But when last is served as first, when worst
Is posed as best, God will not understand:
God does not understand deception.
Food For Thought: Every day brings us closer to the day of reckoning, when we will stand without representatives or assistants, to personally render accounts to our Maker, of how we have played this game of life. When it gets to your turn, what will you present? Many of us are not evangelists that host crusades from city to city, winning countless souls for Christ. We are not pastors that turn the hearts of congregations to their creator. We are not billionaires doling out hard currencies for charity and missionary works. We are simple everyday folks, with not even enough for ourselves. What then shall we render on that day when we are judged alongside these great and influential people – have you asked yourself? We often think that eternal reward is dependent on how much we earn, activities we led and participated in, or our placement in society. God will judge each of us according to our destined purposes; the measure of grace vested in us, to what use we put them, and the profits thereof. Unlike what we think, God will not be matching what you did against any other persons’. His standard is the same irrespective of who and where you are from. The reward is dependent on the resources released to you; what you got versus what you gave, what you gained against what you shared, how you were touched versus how you touched others, what you made of the circumstances that life brought your way. Judgment is not just for condemnation or commendation – those are the end results. The purpose is to weigh the seed we received against the fruit we produced, to rate our accomplishments by the benefits we enjoyed: may we not be found wanting when we are weighed.
Scripture: Abel also brought of the firstborn of his flock and of their fat. And the Lord respected Abel and his offering. Genesis 4: 4.
Prayer: Dear Lord, I know You seek not my silver or gold but a heart that is true and pure: in all my service to You and my fellow men: may I serve in truth and fairness, may I serve my very best, amen.
