Here is horrible! Here is terrible
Worse than I thought; wild, uncertain
Will I ever get out of here?
Now is a bummer! Now is a nightmare
Worse than I dreamed; hard, unyielding
Will I ever go past this ‘now’?
Every present is a challenge.
Here may feel baser than there
Now may seem sadder than then
Present always appear worse
‘Cos that’s where reality lives;
Not in there and then, past or future
Today not tonight, now not later
Right here, not there, decides the rest.
Help me O God to live my present right
Teach me O God to live my realities true
No matter how they may appear.
Food For Thought: One of my favorite Scriptures is – you have need of patience after you have done the will of God that you may obtain the promise (Hebrews 10: 36). Christianity is a race of patience. Without patience, it is impossible to walk or work with God. Those whose names ring from one generation to the other exhibited great patience in faith despite the seeming hopelessness of their cases. Like faith without works is dead, faith without patience is ineffective. Contrary to the ‘instant’ gospel making rounds, our race calls for massive doses of patience otherwise, we risk missing out. God’s schedule is at variance with ours. Our 24 hours is a thousand years on His calendar and our thousand years are like 24 hours run on eternal clock. God operates on eternal not temporal times and everything conforms to His not our time. We can’t rush God. His time is the time. Despite whose clock or calendar applies, God ensures that every moment of each day counts in favor of those who pursue His purpose. Whose program are you pursuing? Progress is not measured by how far we are from our mates. It is ascertained by how close we are to God’s purpose for us right now. Our trust must rest in God not on our work, our walk, our way, or our time. Don’t just take away only God’s promises or you will miss out. Mix each promise with patient faith and neither heights nor depths can stop you from receiving to enjoy them.
Scripture: Whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away. James 4: 14.
Prayer: Dear Lord, may I not be one of those who live in dreams of great pasts or in fantasies of amazing future: help me plant my best seeds today and let You arrange the harvest, amen.
