I watch my days come and go
Each coming and going the same:
Nothing new, nothing different
Except my hope grows dimmer
And floundering faith fainter
As I wait by the ancient door
In pregnant expectation, who knows
Maybe tomorrow will birth
The change I itch but every day
Comes and goes, the same
Every day leaves me the same
While I wait for this tomorrow
That will turn my tides:
Will that tomorrow ever come?
Food For Thought: Good things take time they say. While some of us are so busy, wading their ways through life’s challenges, some others are just watching and wondering, at loss of what to do. They are waiting for better times to do what they think they should. They are anticipating favorable timing when the tide will turn in their favor. Until then, they just sit and wait while life rolls by. Life is for living. Even when we don’t know what to do, which way to go, it pays to look up to God and follow His lead. He may lead in ways we don’t understand, ways that don’t appear to guide where we want to go. Yet, nobody knows better where we should be headed than God and nobody is in a better position to guide. I used to dread some challenges until I learned that we are messengers and our messages are clarified for effective communication as we obediently and faithfully go through God’s processes. Being human, we sure will make mistakes, but as we follow the Shepherd, He reveals Himself, His purpose and provisions in deeper ways. As we draw closer, we realize that His ways may be hard and long but in the end, our picture of Him is clearer, our attitude towards life is better, our message is richer, and the victory gained enduring. We learn that we can live without any other but Him. As we zero in on His purpose, our lives are divinely directed and enriched in ways beyond our natural capability, enabling us to spread farther, the glorious fragrance of His grace and love to a needy world.
Scripture: Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us. Romans 5: 5.
Prayer: Dear Lord, when tomorrow appears so far, so hopeless, or so helpless, help me to welcome each with the smile of hope that is anchored in You and in Your unfailing Word, amen.
