They said of Yesterday
“Not good enough!” To me
Yesterday was like Today
Tomorrow may turn out like Today
And eventually end up like Yesterday.
They said of Yesterday
“I
didn’t give good enough!”
To me, I gave Yesterday my best
Like I am giving to Today
Tomorrow may take that best
Make nothing of it like Today
Already
did to many Yesterdays.
They said to Yesterday
I’m not good enough, I quit.”
Yet they hope for better Tomorrow

For me, I owe Today my best
Whatever it makes of it
I’ll let Tomorrow decide
As for Yesterday, I let it go.

Food For Thought: Often, we say one thing and do the other. Faith is not just a confession but a lifestyle. Our actions are pointers to where our faith actually stands. It is not surprising that painful pasts leave unpleasant signatures on human minds. The surprise factor there is that we do not allow the blood of Christ to wash away such handwriting that speak contrary to God’s will for us. Why allow ugly pasts spoil today and steal beautiful prospects of tomorrow? Why let the bitterness of yesterday sour the sweetness of days ahead, starting today? Whatever happened in our pasts were neither accident nor coincident. God actually allowed them in order to expose, equip and qualify us for a ‘higher’ life. How come all you took away from your past are painful, shameful and fearful memories? Those are neither God’s purpose nor His will for permitting them. What then is God’s will? God’s will is that the eyes of our understanding be opened by those incidents and flooded by the light of His word so we can rise from where we fell, find the right way and walk in it, utilizing precious wisdom that was harvested from nasty experiences to aim higher, ride storms and soar on the wings of His eternal love, confident (not fearful or doubtful) that His everlasting arms beneath will never let us fall out of His reach. God’s will is that we be so filled and fired by the knowledge of His purpose for our lives that no past will be strong enough to stop us from walking worthy of Him unto all pleasing and no experience can hinder our fruitfulness in the Kingdom. That is the only way we can give thanks in every situation – because our knowledge of His will and purpose is not limited or hindered by circumstances; past, present and future. Here’s my question: are you walking worthy of Him unto all pleasing? Are you increasing or decreasing in your knowledge of Him and His will? Are the sum of your knowledge and experiences enhancing or hampering your fruitfulness? It is time to thrash the reasons and excuses that fear and ignorance bestow. May we optimize the gains in our painful experiences to emerge better not bitter, stronger not weaker, wiser and richer, enabled to make meat of what came to consume us and obtain sweet deliverance from strongholds that hinder progress and fruitfulness in Jesus name, amen.

Scripture: Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead. Philippians 3: 13.

Prayer: Dear Lord, may I release the misses and messes of yesterday; may I invest my best in today, and trust You for the best in days ahead, amen.
