I am a pilgrim who often forgets
That I am on a mission, not a stroll
I am a pilgrim who often gets
Distracted by things beyond my call
I am a pilgrim who often forgets
This place is not my home at all
I am a pilgrim who often gets
Distracted by myriad crippling wants
I am a pilgrim who often forgets
My vision supersedes what is
I am a pilgrim who often gets
Distracted by transient fancies
I am a pilgrim who often forgets
My time here is ticking away
I am pilgrim who often gets
Distracted by what comes my way.

Food For Thought:
Follow life and its trends and you will be lost before you realize it. Irrespective of the circumstances of our birth, God has a purpose for each of us, a purpose that can be missed if we don’t live focused. All around us are seas of expectations that often conflict with our life’s goals. It will take focus, discipline and dedication to find and stick with things that really matter. Otherwise, too many little things that don’t count, yet viciously competing for attention, will consume us. If we are not wise in picking our battles, we will find that we have bitten more than we can chew.  Don’t spend a lifetime chasing secondary matters at the expense of the primary one. Find the key thing and stay with it. Those going your way will help you as you would others but no amount of good intention and effort will make the conflicting compliant. We waste energy trying to change what we cannot. Whereas same resources, channeled the right way can yield so much more. Why are you here? Find the answer and feed it and let no distraction sway you.

Scripture: In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. John 14. 2.

Prayer: Dear Lord, keep me mindful that I am on a journey, that all I see now are only but means, that my end and hope is to be found in You at the end of my pilgrimage, amen.
