We are free because He came
We live because He died.
If He wasn’t born
God could never have died:
No resurrection, no salvation
The cross would be meaningless
Humanity doomed still
But because He came
The cross now is
The symbol of our faith
In the eternal God who believed
Man is worth dying for.
Food For Thought: It is only natural to give to people what they deserve. It is general knowledge that if people are given more than they deserve, they tend to take it for granted. Not because the gift is less worthy but because the receiver is unaware and subsequently unappreciative of the true worth of the gift. Subsequently, levels are delineated by which rewards are categorized and people get as close to their due as possible. When we come across people toying with very pricey things, we conclude that they didn’t work for it. Our assumption is that if they earned it, they will know its worth and treat it accordingly. In exceptional cases, you find people who have worked for something and know the value yet treat it without due regard – something is not right there. Nevertheless, the notion that when we work for something, we are better positioned to understand and appreciate its value, still holds the majority of times. If God worked by that principle however, He would have waited until we all reasoned out our desperate need for salvation by which time we’d all be dead and the meaning lost. Then there would have been no one left to learn or utilize the lessons: no one to be saved. Contrary to our philosophies, God’s ways stand tested and true: we are who we are today because He took the first step to love and reach out to us long before we realized our need for Him and the blessings He brought. Because of Him, we live. Because He is, we are.
Scripture: This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief. 1 Timothy 1: 15.
Prayer: Dear Lord, may I never take for granted, the abundant grace that You continually lavish upon me: may my heart always respond in gratitude to You the giver and to others with whom I share this great grace, amen.
