I’m Darby Benedict. I came from jail, and had no real hope for my future, especially in the work force area. When I first came to Narrow Road Home, I started working at the Creperie within the first week I got here and I took to working there right away. I loved getting to know all the locals that came in for a crepe or a coffee, and I loved giving back to my community. The Narrow Road Creperie gave me hope, and a chance to learn skills that I never knew that I had.
I wanted to learn everything there was to know about how everything worked. The ins and outs of the business part of it, and I was soon being offered a management position. The Narrow Road Creperie is a great place for women in recovery to learn skills, humble themselves and give back to their community. I am a graduate of the Narrow Road Home. And I can honestly say that I absolutely love being apart of a business that helped saved me from a life of despair and regrets, and turned it into a life of hope and promise.

First time I met Darby, she wore this unapproachable look that told you to back off right away. I smiled, I have seen many faces like those transformed in the years I have worked or visit as a speaker at Narrow Road Home. It doesn’t matter where they come from; jail, hospitals, home, or right off the streets, the miracles of lives transformed by the power of the gospel remain undeniable. After my meeting that day, I chatted a bit and told her she just got added on my prayer list.
The next time I was around, all it took was one look at her face and I knew that it has happened! What? The miracle of transformation. When God touches your life for good, you cannot hide it. When the Holy Spirit performs that miracle deep inside, the face comes alive and is awash with this divine light that sparkles when you smile. That was and that has been Darby’s demeanor since then.
God is still working in Darby’s life. Please keep her in your prayers: we need God’s intervention to preserve the work He started in Darby’s life and to perfect it to His glory. We need a miracle that only God can give, please keep this precious soul in your daily prayers. I’m looking forward to telling the second part of this story, of how God answered our prayers for Darby. Until then, we continue in hope: we do not give up.
