The smart are not always sharp, the whiz
Not always on top; they seek perfect squares
But life is not straight lines; a mix of certainties
Probabilities and possibilities that mock bogus claims.
Riding above storms demand more than senses.
Life serves colons and commas that close doors
When read as full stops. Life could be in circles
Of highs and lows, brief or long, task or adventure
But it is not a box and can’t be lived in one.
There’s a place for smart, a place beyond senses;
A place of learning, knowing beyond doubt
Where believers are empowered to see invisible
Articulate silence, smell subtle and discern tasteless.
There’s a place in the deep, way beyond instincts
And it makes all the difference between
Common and incredible: the King holds the key.

Food for Thought: I called up my brother and sister one day; I had come to a conclusion that made so much sense when viewed with lenses of globally savvy decisions. On that scale, it was a laudable breakthrough for me. I knew it would have consequences which I had evaluated and was willing to mitigate the downsides in order to enjoy the benefits. I wasn’t seeking advice, approval, or acceptance – nothing made better sense considering where I was at the time. These two heard me out and knowing me well enough, were not afraid to take me back to the Word of God which has been the foundation of our faith, the propeller of our life goals, the key factor in every decision and conclusion. At the end of the discussions, I knew I should have known better. Full consequences are often not visible on the table of decision making. What makes sense may not always be truth. What makes sense may not always be right. It is then left to us to weigh whatever appears to make sense with truth before we draw conclusions because life is truly more than senses. The way of truth may not always end as expected but the consequences of disobedience and the regrets from rebellion defeat all the senses the world will ever make to a believer.

Scripture: So give your servant a discerning heart to govern your people and to distinguish between right and wrong. For who is able to govern this great people of yours? 1 Kings 3:9.

Prayer: Dear Lord, I am prone to get distracted, prone to wander from the path of truth, prone to hunger for apples that are poison disguised: deliver me O God and keep me in the way of truth, now and always, amen.
