Looking through my windows
God’s ways appear
As forests of impossibilities
But as the sun of agape rises
Faith takes root and willingness
Finds a way where there was none:
The supernatural comes natural
As tiny hinges of grace
Move massive doors of mercy
That the good and the bad
May freely enter to enjoy
Extravagant riches of God in Christ
I didn’t qualify to approach
I wasn’t good enough to partake
Yet He bid me come, closer to His heart
He bid me stay for good, for life
Because He deemed me worthy of His care.
Have you realized that we are our own worst enemies, our own worst judges? With the exception of the few who are suffering superiority complex, a lot of us sell ourselves too short. We may look at others and see something good but in ourselves, all we see fall short. Some are influenced by the treatment of those who know no better while some actually drive others to see them as worthless. Truth is, we were not worth the trouble but God found something worthy in us; worthy enough to make Him sacrifice the glory of His throne above, worthy enough to take up our pain and shame, lay down His life for us and suffered like no man ever has. If you weren’t worthy, you think God would have gone so far for you?
Oftentimes we are crippled by our inadequacies. We feel we are not qualified for God’s love. We think we are underserving of His grace and mercy. Consequently, we stall when we should press into the very Presence of Him who alone sees our secret tears, who alone is able to comfort us in those hurting places that cannot be shared with another. God’s love is not an excuse for us to err, it is an encouragement rather that no matter how far we may have erred, God knows, God cares, and God will always care for us and about us. He went out of His way 2000 years ago for a woman shunned by society, for many other individuals in delicate conditions, and for all of humanity. He will do that again and again if need be, for you and for me.
He is not like man whose standards we have to meet to qualify for a relationship. God doesn’t need us to come when we are clean and good enough because He knows we will never attain those on our own. He calls us just as we are; filthy and unworthy or however else we think we are. Through everyday circumstances, God is wooing us, to win us with surpassing love, that we may draw near and drink from the streams of salvation. The very things you are ashamed of, the very things you are running from, the very things you are afraid of, God is using, hoping you would turn and run toward Him. Quit looking on your conditions and failures and turn your attention toward this God that has been chasing you with everlasting love and in His arms, find unexplainable peace.
Glory!
