In the place of waiting, my heart pondered
“How did I come this far? How did I end up here?”
Not sure of the latter, confident of the former:
I came thus far following God. I came this far
Walking in His ways, not mine. I came thus far
Trusting the guidance of His Words, not mine;
God, God’s Word, God’s ways, God’s plan.
Slowly it began to dawn, if I will ever get out
It will be by God; His Words, His ways, His time.
Resolved, I took my heart from worry
And turned it over to God; determined, I took
My eyes from the clock, turned it on His Word.
When I had nothing else to choose or chase
I turned my all to God; to know His Word
To learn His ways, to live His pleasure:
That I may see You, know You, please You
In word and in deed, through Your Word!

Food For Thought: A lot of us wait until we have been robbed of our favorite activities before we learn to make out time for the very things that are begging for our attention and consideration. Some will not pause to take a rest until sickness knocks them off their feet. Then they are admitted into the hospital to take a compulsive break they wouldn’t voluntarily consider. For some of us, it is more fun to chase our fancies than face our realities or stick with duty. Yes, duty can be boring, demanding, a tiring routine that holds no enjoyment whereas fancies are much easier and so much fun to dish and deal. Like I often remind myself, life is serious business that requires fun and balance. Too much in one direction can be harmful so we have to learn to balance duty and pleasure. We must learn the wisdom of discerning the times and making the most of each: to work as hard as we can and enjoy the season of rest and relaxation. Getting them mixed up or robbing one to pay the other leaves us skewed. Balance is essential for victorious living. Don’t wait for circumstances to compel you to do what you ought. Instead, let wisdom guide accordingly.

Scripture: That I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death. Philippians 3: 10.

Prayer: Dear Lord, everyone and everything come and go, nothing endures except You and Your Word: help me to anchor my faith, my hope, my life, on Your unfailing Word, amen.
