Be not shy of little beginning
Every start grows when fed
Be not afraid of giants
Heart, not size makes great
Despise not the lowly today
Change dawns in a twinkle of an eye
And your hope, surrender not –
Faith finds the way in a wilderness
Flowing streams in the desert
And matchless beauty from ashes.
New year signifies new beginnings. Sometimes, the adventures of a new beginning can be exhilarating. Some are no fun. Even the Bible confirmed that the end of a matter is better than the beginning. Keeping our eyes on the end from the beginning will help one stay the course in spite of challenges along the way.
As I look back, recognizing where I am today, how far I travelled to get here, all that transpired along the way, and how God’s mighty hands have proven faithful in directing, delivering and sustaining, I am persuaded that He who started this great work will complete it. Are you equally persuaded?
It doesn’t matter how little or awkward the beginning before us appears today; it doesn’t matter the sizes and numbers of giants against us; it doesn’t matter how impossible our case or those around may seem. What matters is our hearts; who rules there and what we feed it.
When God is the King of our hearts, every condition will bow to the authority of the Sovereign King. When the heart is fed right, our tongues will proclaim God’s counsel over current circumstances until they become our testimonies. This is the year of explosive testimonials, are you ready?
In 2018, I’ve enthroned God as King of my heart and life. I’ve set my heart to seek Him like never before, to serve Him with all I am and have. I will not deceive myself that it will be easy but I have resolved, I will enjoy my walk with God this year. I will not be shy of little beginnings. I will not be afraid of giants. And I will take nothing or no one for granted.
I am set to see God; to draw closer, love Him deeper, and serve Him better. I am set to experience the wonders of His Majesty in 2018. I hope this encourages you to resolve that come what may, you will make this the year of the Lord: no bowing to Baal and no compromising faith. Instead, with eyes fixed on Jesus, we will cling and look to the Rock from which we’re hewn; seeking, unstoppable until He rains righteousness on us and our land, until He turns our desert to streams and our ashes to beauty, so help us God, amen!
