How do you begin to tell
Whoever cares to listen
That you are so unique
You ended up pregnant
Without going the route
That leads all else there?
Supernatural …, really?
How are the sensible supposed
To make sense of nonsense?
Yet such is the lot of those
On whom His favor rests.
God veers off the par
Forging phenomenal paths
To accomplish the miraculous
Which can neither be explained
Nor justified by mortal measurements.
The will of God is not designed
To fit the molds of men
But to whoever roosts in that
Intimate cocoon with Him
Labels bearing “Impossible”
That the smart name weird
Sum up to simple routines.
Christmas is such a big deal that everyone is swept along in the frenzy of celebrations whether they are Christians or not. I guess nobody wants to miss out so everyone joins the festivities though they’d rather not call it a “Christmas-thing” or dispute Christ’s actual date of birth. Whatever your preferences, we can’t deny the radiant colors and decorations, the merriments of family reunions, sharing meals and gifts. We all look forward to this every year. In fact, some people live for this time of the year.
We must not forget the reason for this season: God’s eternal gift of love to mankind. This season should remind us that God so loved us He held nothing back in expressing it, including the only Son He loved dearly. God was so determined to save us He chose the most unlikely path and accomplished the impossible just to reach us. He stopped at nothing in His plan to save us. Even in these times we live in, the virgin birth is unbelievable but we serve the God with whom nothing is impossible. The earth and its fullness belong to Him. They exist for pleasure – can you imagine what that means? It means He can use whatever, however He pleases and cannot be questioned or admonished: it’s all His, we are all His.
Scripture proclaims the things which are impossible with men are possible with God. It is easy to forget, while dealing with our daily challenges, that this God, whom we serve, is the same One who created and sustains the universe by the word of His power. He didn’t have to labor so hard and sweat up streams and oceans to spawn creation. All that was recorded is that He said, “Let there be…,” and the things that we see today became. Same God is speaking peace to your storms, progress to the stagnant, life to the dead, wholeness to the afflicted, and newness to the old. If God could get a virgin to carry His Son in an unbelieving world, what is it you are going through that God cannot do for you who believe in His mighty power?
This God is able to be and to do everything for us, if we continue to trust and obey Him. May His boundless grace abound more and more toward you so that in all things and at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good thing. As you ready to celebrate the birth of His only Son, don’t forget why He was sent: to become the ultimate sacrifice for sin; that we might be saved through Him. Enjoy the celebration of His birth but don’t forget He was born to die: He died that you and I will live eternally.
Merry Christmas.
Glory!
