When God appears invisible
In all the visible ways we know Him
When God seems silent
In all the audible ways we hear Him
When God acts unfeeling
In all the ways we feel Him
When God emerges tasteless
In all the ways we’ve known Him
Don’t run ahead and miss the sign
Worship no worries, serve no fears
Watch, wait till the veil lifts again
Watch, wait till the Way
Stands clear before your eyes
Till the voice of the faithful Shepard
Rings true in your heart again.

Given, there are times God chooses to let us. Sometimes, He has poured so much and it is test time. He has been teaching us dependency on Him and the time has come to see what we will do with all that’s poured into us when left to ourselves. Now let’s not jump into saying that God is testing us when we get into a mess because God does not tempt us with evil. He is our mess cleaner but God makes no mess and He tests no one with mess. Every teacher must test his student to ascertain their level of absorption, comprehension and utilization of all the investments. God is no exception: He is the Great Teacher.

We must learn to step aside and to also check our hearts at such times like Paul encouraged. “Examine yourselves to see if your faith is genuine. Test yourselves. Surely you know that Jesus Christ is among you; if not, you have failed the test of genuine faith.” (2 Corinthians 13:5. NLT). If we have searched and realized we missed something, then let’s offer repentance and obedience and wait for the confirmation of acceptance, peace and restoration. Otherwise, the needful thing to do at such a time is to be still and know…. Know what? Know God is true. God is good. Grow in what you know because that is when the enemy spouts lies against Him and all He’s taught us. Know that God is faithful. Know that God keeps His promises.

Know that even though you may not see Him, hear Him, feel Him, taste Him or understand Him at the time, He is still God, still good, still faithful and will be to the end. Just rest in that knowledge until the test time is over, until the cloud lifts and your inner man is enabled to connect once again, to the endless Source of every good and perfect blessing.

Those moments of seeming loss of contact are only transient and have life changing impacts depending on how we handle them. It is better to wait than to dabble into trouble. It may be harder to wait than to keep moving but the wise are not hasty. It may take a while but every one of us can learn to be still until we know enough to take the next step.
