When times are tough
It’s season for the weak
In us to die so the new
Can thrive. In the furnace
Of affliction, God rids all
That taints us and forges
To release the best of us.
We all love new things and God loves to do new things in us, with us and for us. The problem lies in the differing ways that God does His and how we would rather do ours. We like it quick. We do not want to spend a ton or be spent on new things. We would rather stroll in and strut out new from head to toe! Drop a check and have someone work the sweat while we return to find it all done up and glowing! Unfortunately or fortunately with God, it does not work that way.
God focuses on the inside unlike us that spend so much on the outside though the inside rots. God invests heavily on renewing our hearts and allowing the new heart to transform the looks with time. Unlike us, God is generously patient with time. He is never in a hurry. In fact, my conclusion is that God sure takes His time. But He is God, remember? He knows the end from the beginning and He has time enough to plan and execute so He needs not hurry unlike us whose knowledge and timings are limited.
God makes new wine skins for new wines. Unlike us who would rather spend more externally to impress and less on the unseen, God’s budgeting is the reverse. He will not waste the eternal for the ephemeral. He is more interested in grooming and fortifying the inner man because that is what determines the quality of the man himself. The inner man carries the outward man. When the new wine is ready, unlike us, God will not manage the old wine skin to save costs. He understands the power of new things and the weakness of the old. They do not fit and if forced, they do not last. The new wine will rip the old skin and both will be wasted. God works to save not to ruin.
We all have been going through a season of preparation. God is preparing the release of new wine and therefore has been using this time to prepare us to be fitting containers for what He is about to release. If you are going through a rough patch right now, please understand that God is working behind the scenes, crafting new wine skins for the containment of the new anointing He’s prepared for you to walk in. He will not pour such expensive treasure into an old container and waste both. Some think this year is a bad one but guess what? God has great plans for 2020. He is renewing you to be a faithful container and effective communicator of the new things He is destined for this year. Be patient with yourself. Be patient with God. It will be well at the end of this process.
