We were running, frantic for escape
The men on foot chasing hard, coming close
Running to save dear lives and loved ones
The men on foot relentless in their pursuit
And though we panted, we fainted not
Bent on escape, we ran until they emerged
Men on horses! Help! Help, men on horses!
The men on foot we could not evade
What now O God, with fiery men on horses!
God stirred my heart to start praying for people as things progressed post the COVID 19 pandemic. The more I prayed, the more I realized what is not so obvious but should be. We were all asked to stay home and we were unraveling. Provisions were made to support many while others suffered and perished, more from the consequences of the shutdown than from the virus itself. A lot of us have blamed and continue to blame the virus for the things we lost and are going through. Now that cloud is lifting and it is bound to force some unforeseen changes in us and for us.
Think of this for a minute: we were asked to stay home for our safety and many of us were supported to help us stay home and we complained like it was the worst thing that could ever have happened to mankind. We wanted to go out so bad. Now things are easing up. What we have been grumbling and itching for is about to be granted. The doors are about to open and suddenly we will all rush out to catch the breath we believe we have missed so much. We will crowd outside only to suddenly realize: so where do we go from here? And boom! A lot of us will be at a loss of what to do with this much sought freedom.
Then will emerge the onset of new issues and there will be no virus to blame. We will manage to find something else to blame for why we are where we are or the way we are. This brings us all back to the persistent question of what did we do with the time that we were all given for once in a lifetime? How did we spend such a time? The test is about to be handed out. The results will speak for themselves. Still, we have the chance, with whatever little is left, to seek God while He still can be found. To change our ways while we still have the chance. To lay hold of this imperishable peace and hope in Christ that no condition, global or local can twist, and stand upon the Rock that no difficulties can shift. Now is the time to make things right before it is too late for some of us.
Blessings
Glory!
