If you made no profits from wisdom
It’s not because knowledge hides its face:
To those who ask, answer avails. We receive
According to the size and openness of our hearts.
Wisdom ignores those who think they know it all
From error to error, they dance with frustration.
Some awake after a while, others take years
But to everyone, rousing and probing is a miracle.
Some think miracles are magic; like change, miracles
Are hints and jolts that hit, sometimes instantaneous,
Most often in trickles that trigger the outstanding,
Spanning over time. When you are willing to listen,
Ready to learn, eager to heed – that is your miracle!
Some are unaware their chosen path leads not
To their elegant assumption or plum presumption;
That they will end up far from anticipation,
That when they arrive, cherished expectations
Won’t be waiting as envisioned because they chose
To run alone; eyes shut, ears stuffed, hearts closed
Lest they see or hear and learn that life is not
Subject to our fancies and preferences. Whatever
You do, don’t run alone! Yes life is a race, so personal
Yet nobody makes home running alone.

Food for Thought: When you consider the seemingly endless pressures and hassles of friendship, some prefer to be on their own. I once was my own best and only friend. Life was okay; nobody bothered me beyond the limits of my allowances. I could get up and go whenever I wanted, do whatever I wanted, however I wanted to. Life was good, until I learned that life was not meant to be lived alone. Life is so much more fun when it is mutually shared, especially with those who care. Everyone has a cross to carry and we all need a hand every once in a while. The majority think that suicide is a result of mental challenges but reality is that the overwhelming trauma of bearing your burdens alone is chiefly responsible for pushing people off the edge. Burdens shared, like valves relieve pressure, even without offering solution. That relief shifts our position so we can view the same situation in different ways, and in the process find escape routes that we once were unable to see because of where the tensions had placed us. Yes life is a race but that race is not meant to be run alone. Every man on his track is good, each pausing every once in a while to lend a helping hand, ensures that irrespective of positions, we are all winners at the end of the race.

Scripture: Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. Galatians 6: 2.

Prayer: Dear Lord, despite all the encouragements of modern gadgets, preserve me from isolating myself in a world where You have surrounded me with love and care: may I look and when I do, may I find the help I need for each phase of my journey: above all, may I be the help that someone needs to make it through their day, amen.
