There are days you wake up sad
Unable to help your feelings.
There are days you wake up singing
For which you seek a “Why”
You don’t need a reason to be happy
You don’t have to understand
Whether it makes sense or not
Allow yourself: just savor the joy of living.
For days that kick you about, endure;
Trials leave us brave and adroit.
For days that come bearing bounties
Enjoy, and remember to share.
For days that download disorder
Bear with whoever would share.
Every man reaps a harvest of his seed.
If you see a brother in dilemma
Don’t walk fast, don’t run past. Like good
Woe goes from door to door, from day to day
The hand you deal will be dealt back at you.
Food for Thought: I observed that those who complain the most that nobody cares about them are the very ones who would rarely go out of their way for others. Consumed in their world and needs, they are either ignorant or uncaring about the pressure everyone else around them is going through. So focused on their own neediness, they forget that the blows of life are landing on the big and small, far and near. Those who truly care are way too busy to sit and complain. When they have something to say, they don’t swing back and forth, frothing hurting and shaming words. They make their points and move on. I have learned that each time I focus on my needs, I get consumed and overwhelmed, and at such times most prone to overlook, underestimate and trample on the genuine needs of others. But each time I make the effort to look beyond my cares, to reach out to others with the very cares that I need or more, I may not have my issues resolved but I am lifted beyond where I was before I reached out those hands; lifted and recharged by joy; lifted with hope as I witness the dreams of another like me fulfilled, through me and before me. It is time to stop complaining. It is time to take our eyes off our issues. It is time to give out of what we have in spite of all we need. While hoping and waiting for our desires, we can make a difference if we stop to look around and see how we can lend a hand to those around us, with the little that we have.
Scripture: Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. Galatians 6: 7.
Prayer: Dear Lord Jesus, it is easy to get confused, consumed, and complain about all we need: help me to help others with what I have while I look to You for all that I need, amen.
