As I sat resting on the shoulder of my Shepherd
On our way home, Love remerged before my eyes;
Not like I understood it first while well catered for
At home. Not like I understood it later while roaming
Alone in the wild. Love remerged an action;
A demonstration of care even for the underserving
Sincere attention, focused where it is truly needed
Abundant affection showered with or without cause.
Love lets me let down my guard, drains the pressure
Of self-preservation. Love towers above, my covering.
Love lives within; lights me up, sets me free, lets me be
Who I truly am meant to be. Right there on His shoulder
My heart was changed; melted by love that came to me
When I least expected. Transformed by love that came
For me when I felt so unworthy: I am forever changed!

Food For Thought: In our planet, you have to earn your way through life. Justice is getting what you deserve. In God’s world, it’s totally different. Where there is no way, rather than turn back and claim, “O well, at least I tried!” Love persists until it finds a way. When least expected, it shows up in places we weren’t looking and does things that make us go, “Wow!” God’s love is not about who is qualified or not, it is a portion served all mankind in equal proportion, which while some are enjoying, many still ignore. And God doesn’t give up on His love. The transformative power of God’s love leaves our mouth agape, our eyes in tears, our hearts in humble admiration, of the God who must find cause, again and again, to reach out and touch those who weren’t even looking for Him. And if He does so much for those who don’t know Him and don’t care, how much more will He do for you who love and honor Him? There is hope for us: God is a sure help.
