When I listen to the clashes fermented by quake
Fear growls in my ears and my heart faints:
I wander, I worry, I grow quickly weary.
Ears planted on His Word, wraps arms of peace
Around me, keeping me safe in the storm
Keeping me warm in the cold, keeping me well
Through troubles until I’m ready for my change:
Until my change is ready for me.
Food For Thought: Those who plan their lives around popular news are in trouble. The variations in the same news as reported by different sources are unimaginable. Two people witnessing the same event do not report it the same, how much more when you add biases, interests, and the agenda of persons reporting, as well as that of the organization they work for, among others. Even the events we observe can be disheartening how much more the ones we have to depend on the accounts of others. Yet, these are choices we must make on a daily basis: whose report to believe. Yes terrible things are happening all around us. Should we therefore build our lives around terror? What manner of life would that be? While we should not be ignorant, yet it is our responsibility to choose what to focus our attention and energy on. Over and above what the news outlets are saying, what is God saying to you? What is God saying about your situation? There are some things nobody can discover for us, things we shouldn’t hear first from another person. Now is the time to set our hearts upon God, to open our ears to Him, hear what He is saying and apply our hearts to them diligently.
Scripture: Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ. Philippians 1: 6.
Prayer: Dear Lord, I know You are preparing me for something great and that You are preparing something great for me: help me to keep my ears open to Your instructions and not be moved by any other news, amen.
