Dear Lord, this is a cry
Not just a prayer
A cry from the bottom of my heart;
I didn’t say life wasn’t good
Though it could have been better.
I said it was boring. I needed exciting
I wanted action not losses, change not
Troubles, bigger, better not bitter
Assured, secured, not endangered:
Shattered into irrecoverable pieces.
If this is Your change, please leave me
Where I was – these troubles I can’t bear.

Food For Thought: What is farther from reality than the assumptions with which we construct our ideas of ideals? Pressed by our circumstances, we want deliverance so bad we will jump on any available wagon to get away. Headed where? Some won’t even ask. Any place away from the current situation, just anywhere. Thus many have  jumped for change only to land in distress where they rudely wake up to the reality that they just jumped from frying pan into fire. Whereas a little patience would have positioned us for the right vehicle that will take us to our due destination, quest for hasty deliverance dumps us farther than the relief we thought we couldn’t wait for and in the place of regret, we waste the resources we were too impatient to spend aright. May we not be deceived by our ideas of life. May reality not knock us out of slumber. Instead, may sound knowledge shape our dreams, may wisdom guide our expectations, and may understanding preserve us from the countless woes and losses of haste, amen.

Scripture: Why has the Lord brought us to this land to fall by the sword, that our wives and children should become victims? Would it not be better for us to return to Egypt?” Numbers 14: 3.

Prayer: Dear Lord, yesterday may appear better than today, nevertheless, help me to keep looking and moving up and forward, and never backward, amen.
