I was praying for change
Watching out for new
Anything to spice up this routine
Break this monotony that bores me;
Something unique, something different.
Then a terrible quake erupted;
All the pillars of my comfort cracking
Once solid foundation rocking
Stability ruined by roiling
Apart, apiece, my world was falling
My credits quickly failing
Turning into crippling liabilities.
I wailed, as loud as besetting woes
“Help! I wanted change
But not this type of change!”
Food For Thought: How many remember politicians that came up with the slogans that promised, “Change….” Who doesn’t like change? We all get tired of same, be they good or bad, and itch for change. Masses jumped at the opportunity to vote for change and things pick a spin and are never the same. It hardly goes the way it is expected. Change is a very simple word that carries tons of meanings. Not long, same people detest the change they elected and want to change back to what once was but the rejected is not reinstalled by altering whims. Hunters have hit home, counted their loots, and are plotting the next move but the ones who feel cheated are wailing for what was lost, for what they didn’t bargain for, and for what they thought would have been that will not become. It has happened in developed and developing nations and will continue to happen. People have developed itchy ears that are easily scratched but not as easily satisfied. People are seeking for salvation by any means and their desperation makes them gullible. People are looking for what they are not even sure of, expecting their dreams to be fulfilled by men who cannot deliver beyond their limited realities. Scripture that calls to mind each time I witness this is: there is no salvation in any other but Jesus Christ (Acts 4:12). Without God, the help of men is vain.
Scripture: My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials. James 1: 2.
Prayer: Dear Lord, I know that You do not show up wearing my expectations: however You show up in my case, help me not to lose heart thinking that what was meant as a new beginning is my end, amen.
