Life may not always be fair
Times may not always be even
But every day comes with a new invitation
To all of us: to step out and grab life
To live it to the fullest or to run and hide
Miss opportunities tucked behind challenges.
Yes, life may not always be fair
And times may not always be even
Yet may I never miss the open invitation
Every day serves to explore and exploit
The life that a brand new day bequeaths.

Food For Thought: No two days are the same. Yesterday is gone forever and will never return. Today will never repeat. Why waste today because of the issues of yesterday especially when we know that this is all we will have of this day? Once spent, a day cannot be recalled. No matter how yesterday may have played out, while we have today, let’s take it with a clear head and grateful heart, and make the most of it. Paul encouraged that whatever our hands find, we do with all our heart, as we would do for the Lord. Allow me to quote Eugene Peterson’s Message Bible, “Seize life! Eat bread with gusto, drink wine with a robust heart. Oh yes – God takes pleasure in your pleasure! Dress festively every morning. Don’t skimp on colors and scarves. Relish life with the spouse you love each and every day of your precarious life. Each day is God’s gift. It’s all you get in exchange for the hard work of staying alive. Make the most of each one! Whatever turns up, grab it and do it. And heartily! This is your last and only chance at it, for there’s neither work to do nor thoughts to think in the company of the dead, where you’re most certainly headed” (Ecclesiastes 9: 7-10.)

Prayer: Dear Lord, help me to open my heart and arms, embrace each new day, squeeze out all the blessings it holds, and be thankful when it is spent, amen.
