Through everyday trials: God leads us
Through everyday temptations: God helps us
Through everyday desires: God guides us
Through everyday demands: God proves us
Through everyday events: God prepares us
For eternity; training us to fit, shaping us
To align – that’s what life is truly about:
Preparing us now for hereafter.
Food For Thought: Paul said if it was only for this life that Christ died; so that we eat well, dress cool, live large, drive the coziest rides, live in glamorous houses, travel around the world visiting exotic locations, reaching for all the pleasures that life has to offer, and thereafter we die and that’s the end of having lived, then we are of all men the most miserable. What that tells me is not to despise those, neither to make them my life goals. It says that life must be more than those, so much more than all we can see and have and enjoy here and now. And if that be so, how ought we to live, like people who are here for all they can have and are gone tomorrow? Like people who are living for something so much more than this, than here, than now? God’s purpose for everything that He allows to come our way is to prepare us for something better than now. God is getting us ready for a greater life: making us fit for eternity. May this hope preserve us from getting swept away by things that are here today and gone tomorrow because truly, life is more than these.
Scripture: But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified. 1 Corinthians 9: 27.
Prayer: Dear Lord, help me to understand and live out through events, my understanding that life is not about me or the world around me: it’s all about You, amen.
