When all around is shifting sands;
Churning seas, quaking earth
Flowing streams of matters arising
Air polluted by worries too many
And fogs threatening visibility
I falter seeking sound and solid;
Something, anything that is stable.
I stagger, I reel as I seek
Until I can personally encounter
And know beyond feeling, His presence;
Bearing me up on sturdy wings
Ferrying through crumbling times
Until steadied in His care, all that fades
Pass away and I am still, preserved
For those that fail not.
Food For Thought: We live in times when everything is crumbling on a daily basis; health, safety, security, economy, and social risks are on the rise. Natural disasters strike here and there, sweeping away precious resources, leaving victims helpless. Spate of crimes and spread of hatred complicate the sore burdens humanity must bear, sending many to untimely graves. Fear has come to stay and it is not hiding. Exploiting our norms, it spreads its tentacles to claim every heart. What has this world become? Where are we headed? How can this madness and inhumanity be checked? What is the hope of the slain, the threatened, the fearful, and the helpless? Where is the hope of all mankind? The experts may laud various formulas but like the crumbling conditions under which we live, operated by flawed people like you and me, who slaughter well intended purposes for personal gains, formulas fail. Yet there is one that has been there from time immemorial; tested and proven through and true. One formula that has never failed and will never fail: Jesus – the eternal Hope of glory to them that believe. The beauty of this hope is that He is freely available and easily accessible to all, anytime from everywhere. He is flexible, durable and imperishable. Above all, He is real and preserves those in whom He lives: they also will live eternal. Thank God for this Hope: does this Hope live in you?
Scripture: But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. Matthew 7: 26.
Prayer: Dear Lord, help me to understand that heaven and earth and all therein will someday pass away: help me to set my priorities on those and things that bear your unfading glory, amen.
