How will they know what they don’t know?
Except they are told, except they are taught.
Who will teach when he was not sent?
And where are the sent who should teach?
Yet His Word comes to one and to all
Again and again, wooing needy hearts
To win their trust. Wooing wounded wings
To wean them from cares so they can fly.
Food For Thought: One indisputable truth and attitude about Christ that featured in all He said and did with everyone who came across Him was compassion; for the good and the bad; the healthy and the sick; the sinner and the righteous; the rich and the poor. Jesus cared for everyone irrespective of where or how they came. And to everyone He met, it was the same love He showed; the tax collector, the centurion, His mother, the woman caught in adultery, his brothers, the disciples, the demon possessed, the well off, the afflicted. Knowing what Judas would do didn’t deter or make His love for the would-be traitor any less than the rest of the apostles. What an excuse Judas would have had for betraying the Master if he had been shown less love than the others. If I knew he had sticky fingers, he won’t smell the purse! Yet it was him Christ made the treasurer, robbing him of any excuse for his treachery. When the multitude should have been released to go seek their own bread, compassion compelled Christ to provide for them instead. He did all things well and everywhere He went, He did good. His persistent loving kindness won over the majority who followed Him. His opponents could find nothing to tie on Him: every accusation fell off and hit right back in the face of perpetrators as liars. Hearts won by His love and weaned from death to life stuck with Him despite their fears. If any was lost, it was those who came for whatever they could get from the miracle Worker. If our lights will shine in a world that grows darker by the day, if our ministry will bear enduring fruits, if we will win souls for Christ, if men will be weaned from the path of destruction, it will be through compassion.
Scripture: Casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you. 1 Peter 5: 7.
Prayer: Dear Lord, as You woo my heart through every day events that appear mundane, may my response never be banal: may my yes to You and Your ways always be hearty and lively, amen.
