Life is not what we think it was
Past cannot be changed
Life is not what we think it is
Present is more than meets the eye
Life is not what we think it will be
Tomorrow offers no guarantees:
Life is what we choose to make of
What and where we are right now.
Food For Thought: Because current circumstances appear appalling, some have resorted to living in the past. They live in the dream of good old days which does not improve their current status. Some others live for the future. With such robust hopes, they keep looking ahead to someday when it will be all right. Hours turn to days and weeks to months and years but the future is still ahead, always ahead. Some of us wait for when things improve before we do what we know we should. We forget that future started yesterday. That today is part of that future. That future is not a date until it is set and will always be far from today if we don’t do something now. If you want to be an expert at anything, now is the best time to start. Procrastination is the greatest enemy of progress: the cure is being proactive. Don’t wait until everything turns all right. Truth is, if you don’t do what you ought today, everything is not going to be all right tomorrow. Your engagements and actions will determine if future will be better. If you find yourself in destructive habit and you know you should do something about it, don’t defer it to later. Now is the best time to start that change. If you need to learn a skill to improve your performance, don’t defer it anymore. Whenever we tell ourselves we will start tomorrow, it means we are not ready yet because there will always be another tomorrow. If you can do something about it now, then you can do a little more tomorrow, and the next, and it builds up until you get there. If you can’t start now to do something about what you ought to be doing, the chances are that you may never get to it. Do something today if you care about your future: commit to making a contribution every day toward your dream: that is the way to truly live.
Scripture: Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is. Ephesians 5: 17.
Prayer: Dear Lord, I don’t have yesterday anymore, I may or may not have tomorrow, all I have is today, and not even the whole day, all I have is now: help me to make the best of every moment I have been given, amen.
